The Lynchburg Police Department worked with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the United States Marshals Service and the Blue Ridge Regional Jail Authority on this operation.

“Violent crime has no place in our city. We’ll do everything we can, and within our power, to hold the perpetrators of these crimes accountable,” said Police Chief Ryan Zuidema during a news conference Thursday.

With these individuals off the streets for now, police are turning to solve other violent crimes and calling on the community to work together.

“We continue to struggle sometimes with witnesses, and even victims, to cooperate some of the crimes we investigate. That has got to change if we’re going to make a difference here in Lynchburg,” said Zuidema.

He said the department receives multiple reports each week about weapons stolen from vehicles.

“What would you want someone to do if it was your family member that was a victim of one of these crimes? I think everybody can say very clearly they would want those individuals to come forward with that information,” said Zuidema.

Anyone with information should contact police. You could receive a reward if your tip leads to an arrest and conviction. You can also remain anonymous.
