Classes resume William Byrd and Northside High Schools after bomb threats

ROANOKE COUNTY (WSLS 10) - Both William Bird and Northside High Schools were evacuated on Monday after bomb threats at the schools.

Both schools were cleared by Monday afternoon and students could return to class.

At William Byrd, students were evacuated to William Byrd Middle School and the campus was closed.

At 12:27 p.m., the district announced that Northside High School had been cleared and that students would return ot class on a modified afternoon schedule. Students had been moved from the football field to the big gym at Northside Middle School, while police continued to clear the high school.

Parents were not allowed to pick up their children from either school.

On Friday, the Northside went on lockdown for hours after a shooting threat was found inside one of the school's bathrooms.
