Northside H.S. lockdown lifted after shooting threat discovered

ROANOKE COUNTY- (WSLS 10) - Northside High School is no longer on lockdown after a threatening message was discovered in a bathroom Friday morning.

Althought the lockdown is lifted, additional security measures will remain in place. All evening activities at NHS, including athletics and the school play, have been postponed for today.

A message stating "shooting at noon" was found this morning in one of the school's bathrooms, prompting the lockdown as a precaution.

The school will continue to dismiss students to parents who come to check out their children. A staging area for parents has been established in the bus lot in-between NHS and NMS, according to the Roanoke County Schools' twitter account. If you want to have a child released from Northside, a parent must be present, according to a tweet from the Roanoke County Police Department.

Police officers are at the school's entrance directing parents. K-9 officers are also at the school.

The school is serving the students lunch and the students remaining at the school will continue their classes on an abbreviated schedule.

Roanoke County schools published this message on its Facebook page:
