A wet evening in store...have the umbrella handy if heading out

Rain continues before a dry weekend

ROANOKE, Va. – The rain isn’t quite done with us yet. A cold front is passing through bringing another round of some heavy rain through this evening. Most areas should be dry by close to midnight. But not before we’ve seen anywhere from 0.50-3″ of rain. This rain will help fight the wildfires and will help with our developing drought situation.

Weekend outlook: Dry but some pesky clouds

The weekend brings drier weather with high pressure taking over. Saturday will see more sunshine than Sunday, but even when have a good amount of cloud cover, we will still be dry. So Mother Nature does look to cooperate with any outdoor plans you may have. Temperatures will reach the 50s on Saturday, but we’ll fall into the 40s on Sunday.

Looking ahead: More rain possible next week

Don’t put those umbrellas away just yet. Another weather system is forming in the Pacific Northwest, which includes an atmospheric river—a pathway of moisture bringing heavy rain. This system is predicted to make its way to our area by Wednesday and/or Thursday, increasing our rain chances once more. But until then, early next week looks dry under a mix of sun and clouds. And after a cooler day Sunday, temperatures will skyrocket next week. We’ll be in the 60s on Monday and Tuesday.
