Wind alerts in effect

ROANOKE, Va. – Expect gusty winds through Wednesday. The National Weather Service has extended several wind alerts until 6p tomorrow due to wind gusts 25-50 mph. The wind will be stronger in the mountains than they will be in the Piedmont. And the wind will settle down on Thursday.

Warmer temperatures on the horizon

If you’re not a fan of the cool weather in January, there’s good news. More warmer temperatures are on the way. We hit the 50s today and could reach the 60s in a few areas on Wednesday. And temperatures look to stay above average the rest of the week. We may cool down a bit this weekend, but should warm right back up again early next week.

The week ahead: Rain late week

We will be dry through at least midday Thursday. However a cold front will start to impact the area late on Thursday afternoon. We could see a little rain before the sun goes down along and west of I-77. Rain will then overspread the region Thursday night into Friday. Most of the rain exits Friday night. And that should leave us for the most part dry this weekend. Saturday will see increasing sunshine, while Sunday will see a mix of sun and clouds. And early next week looks dry too under mainly sunny skies.
