Monday's weather recap
ROANOKE, Va. – Today kicked off with some clouds lingering from last night, but it didn’t take long for the skies to clear up. By the time we reached late morning, the sun was shining down brightly. As the night progresses, lows will fall into the 20s and 30s. And the winds will pick up too.
Tuesday's weather outlook
Looking ahead to Tuesday, the day will start quite chilly, but we will warm up nicely with highs eventually climbing into the lower 50s. It will be mainly sunny day for everyone.
The talking point, however, will be the winds. There’s potential for breezy, arguably windy, conditions with gusts up to 30-50 mph possible. The mountains will feel stronger wind than the Piedmont. As a matter of fact, a wind advisory is in effect for areas along and west of the Blue Ridge Parkway through Tuesday afternoon.
Midweek and late-week weather preview
As we look further into the week, a warm spell is anticipated by midweek, with temperatures climbing higher. The warmest day looks to be Wednesday, with highs reaching the mid-to-upper 50s. We are dry through most of the day Thursday. However, don’t pack away your rain gear just yet. There’s a chance for some rain to pass through starting Thursday night, lingering into Friday and Friday night. The good news? Weekend plans should remain on track as clearer skies are expected to return no later than midday Saturday. Although we look cooler for the weekend, we should see the return of sunshine after what could very well be a dreary Friday.
