Cold arctic air is rushing into the region Tuesday

Temperatures fluctuate around freezing with a real feel in the 10s and 20s

ROANOKE, Va. – Most areas along the mid-Atlantic and mid-west stay in the 20s and 30s on Tuesday. This means snow and ice on the ground will have a tough time melting.

Region Temperatures

Temperatures in the NRV, Highlands, and Roanoke Valley stay at or below freezing. Ice and snow on the ground in Lynchburg and Southside will have the chance to melt Tuesday afternoon due to warmer temperatures and lots of sunshine.

Today's Highs

The real feel will remain in the teens and twenties for most of Tuesday thanks to gusty winds.

Winds will peak between 20 and 30 miles per hour throughout the day.

Today

The rest of the week will be cold with mostly clear and sunny skies. However, as we head into the weekend, we are tracking the next big thing.

Our next shot at winter weather gathers itself to our south and west over the coming days.

Another Front

By Friday night and Saturday morning, there is a pretty good shot of seeing more winter weather.

This Weekend

The current odds of seeing 1 inch of snow are 68% or greater for all of Southwest and Central Virginia.

Something to note is that these odds will change in the coming days. A small deviation in the storm track could increase or decrease the likelihood of seeing snow.

1 Inch

As for your 7-day forecast, temperatures remain near freezing for the next several days. So, refreezing of ice and snow will remain an issue for most. Cloudy skies build in later on Friday, as do winter weather conditions.
