Roanoke, VA – After some beneficial rainfall yesterday, we’ll be looking at another chance of rain on New Year’s Eve.
Temperatures today will continue to run above average in the 50s and 60s. It’ll feel a bit cooler than yesterday with windy conditions now that a cold front has passed.
We linger in the 50s on New Year’s Eve with the next round of rain coming through the area. The most widespread rain appears to be between 1-5 PM, meaning it’ll still be mostly clear for when the ball drops at midnight.
Wednesday will kick off both 2025 and a much cooler temperature pattern. While New Year’s Day will be seasonable in the 40s, we’ll be back in the 30s by the time we get into the weekend.
Long term temperature trends show these chilly conditions lasting for quite some time. There are some long term indications we could get some precipitation as well, but it remains to be seen the extent of any wintry precipitation.
