ROANOKE, Va. – The ‘ALL CLEAR’ has been given regarding the Weather Authority Alert Day that was in place for Wednesday night into Thursday morning.
Heading into Thursday afternoon, temperatures will recover into the 70s and 80s. We’ll trade morning clouds for breaks of afternoon sun.
The morning round of rain and clouds has consumed most of the energy in the atmosphere, leaving us with only isolated storms late Thursday afternoon into the evening. While these storms are small, one or two could produce a severe thunderstorm warning east of the Roanoke Valley.
Humidity levels drop Friday, making for a more comfortable feel to the air.
This will especially be felt at night and in the mornings, when temperatures fall into the 40s and lower 50s this weekend.
Despite that, a weak disturbance thousands of feet above us will still generate some scattered showers/rumbles of thunder late Friday afternoon and again late Saturday afternoon.
Come Mother’s Day, that same disturbance will mostly be east of here. That leaves us mostly dry and comfortable from start to finish.
