A chilly rain develops Friday afternoon into the night

ROANOKE, Va. – Welcome to March, and welcome to Meteorological Spring! This winter (December-February) was one of the warmest on record in the Roanoke Valley.

We can and do see snow in March, but we don’t expect any snow within the first week of the new month.

A cold rain develops from south to north Friday afternoon and evening. Temperatures will mostly be in the 40s while it’s raining - good napping weather!

Most of the rain is out of here late Saturday morning, though a few showers may linger north of the Roanoke Valley.

A few showers linger Saturday morning before drying out the rest of the day.

We exchange that for a little milder air. Saturday’s high temperatures reach about 55 to 60 degrees, while Sunday afternoon’s temperatures get a little bit of a nudge.
