ROANOKE, Va. – We’re coming up on the time of year when wild temperature swings become a little more common. That will certainly be the case in the days ahead.
Friday afternoon plays “middle man” with comfortably warm weather and sunshine on tap. Highs reach the 70s in the mountains and low-to-mid 80s everywhere else.
A front passing through will provide yet another drop in humidity throughout the day. It will be breezy at times too, which will add to the comfort factor.
This brings us to Saturday morning, which will likely be the coolest morning we’ve seen in about two months. Sunrise temperatures begin in the 40s and 50s - a nod to fall which officially begins in nearly five weeks.
Don’t get used to that, though. A large area of high pressure sets up camp over the Midwest starting Sunday. Sinking air associated with high pressure leads to big-time heat.
The humidity won’t be overbearing, but highs climb into the 90s for most of us next Monday and Tuesday.
Storm chances stay limited until later next week when this pattern begins to buckle a little bit.
