ROANOKE, Va. – We’re at that time of year when the mornings start out chilly and frosty, but the afternoons end up nice and comfortable.
So is the trend for Friday, as afternoon temperatures reach well into the 60s.
By the time high school football games start, temperatures begin in the 50s and drop into the 40s. Make sure you’re layered up!
As high pressure holds a loose grip on our weather, we’ll see highs increase by about 5° Saturday afternoon.
An area of low pressure near the coast will throw some more clouds in our direction Sunday, but the bulk of rain will stay toward the eastern half of the state.
Otherwise, enjoy a nice weekend of fall festivals and foliage!
Heading into next week, the jet stream stays locked to the north. The jet stream is an area of high winds around airplane level that separate cold air from warm air.
So, the farther north it is, the generally warmer we’ll be.
We stand the chance of a few stray showers next Wednesday.
