ROANOKE, Va. – It’s been a stretch of weather that fall fans have been craving - cool mornings followed by comfortably warm afternoons.
Our dry air mass keeps that trend in play through the end of the week, as afternoon highs Thursday and Friday reach the upper 70s and lower 80s.
Talk about great weather for high school football! Temperatures start in the 70s before falling into the upper 60s and lower 70s Friday evening.
Tailgate weather Saturday looks great for both Tech’s and VMI’s home games. You may need a light coat early on!
We’ll turn warmer by Sunday, as a strong area of high pressure begins to anchor itself over the southern U.S.
Highs Sunday reach the low to mid 80s, but we’ll peak around 85 to 90° Tuesday through Thursday. Go figure...the first official day of fall is next Thursday, and we’ll be sweating!
The tropics are heating up too.
Late Wednesday night, Tropical Storm Fiona formed just east of the Caribbean. If there’s any impact to U.S. soil, it wouldn’t be until mid-to-late next week.
