ROANOKE, Va. – Ever since our mid-week storm system, it’s been nice to see a break in the humidity.
That’s something that will continue through Friday.

High temperatures will manage to reach the 70s and 80s once again, as clouds gradually increase later in the day.
This comes ahead of a storm system that gives us the chance for a few showers Saturday morning along with a few hit-or-miss storms in the warmth of the day.
As that storm pulls away, we get even warmer Sunday with highs mostly around 85 to 90°.
If you think that’s hot, you ain’t seen nothin’ yet!
A large area of high pressure becomes anchored over the Eastern U.S. next week. Compressional heating associated with high pressure will push temperatures into the 90s across a large chunk of the area.
Humidity will also be a factor, adding to the heat index near or above triple digits in the eastern half of the area.
A few storms may develop each afternoon, especially in the mountains. Anything that forms in that type of heat and humidity, though, could become strong or severe.
Make sure to download our weather app ahead of the next heat wave.
