ROANOKE, Va. – The wind backed off last night and skies remained clear, the perfect scenario for temperatures to plummet.
Most of the area is waking up below freezing as temperatures are running about 15 degrees below average this morning.
You may want to give yourself a couple of extra minutes to clear any frost from your vehicle before you head to work or school.
Mostly sunny skies will aid a warm-up through the midday and afternoon. While temperatures will peak below average this afternoon, it will feel much more comfortable than what we have right now!
Look for highs in the 60s across the region.
The warm-up doesn’t end there. Each afternoon will be progressively warmer through Sunday.
In fact, it will feel more like summer over the weekend as our highs return to the 80s.
You see a cold front starting to get set up to the west on Sunday. It appears that one may arrive on Tuesday and bring the possibility of thunderstorms. It also could usher in a cool-down from the summery weather.
As this front is still 6-7 days away from us, it’s best to check back to the forecast for updates as we fine tune what we think will happen.
