ROANOKE, Va. – The wind is adding extra chill to our Monday, so if you’re having trouble waking up - just step outside!
Despite some sunshine, it’ll stay chilly throughout the day Monday with highs mainly in the 40s in areas along and west of the Parkway. We’ll dip our toes into the 50s in Lynchburg and Southside.

The wind will subside at night, allowing us to cool off into the upper 20s and low to mid 30s first thing Tuesday morning.
High pressure leads to more sun and a calmer wind Tuesday.
As that high shifts east, the wind will come in out of the southwest and warm us up Wednesday and Thursday. Expect high temperatures by then in the upper 60s and lower 70s (some middle 70s possible in the eastern half of our area).
This warmth comes ahead of yet another cold front. This will produce some rain late Thursday into Thursday night.
Once it clears the area, the wind shifts direction out of the northwest. That will blow in some colder air in time for Friday and the weekend.
Highs will generally be in the 40s and 50s with lows Saturday and Sunday mornings in the 20s and lower 30s.
Looking ahead to Thanksgiving, most long range forecast data shows another dip in the jet stream early in the week. That would favor cooler air before temperatures moderate later in the week. Another cold front looks like it will be west of us by Thanksgiving, so that should keep us dry.
