ORIGINAL STORYRoanoke City Police are investigating a hit-and-run that happened Friday night. Police discovered a pick-up truck with front-end damage a few hundred yards from the scene.

At about 6:15 p.m., police responded to the intersection of Salem Turnpike and Calvary Road NW to find a man just off the road with what appeared to be serious injuries, according to the Roanoke Police Department. The man, who authorities identified as Albert Cager Jr., was taken to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital where he later died. Witnesses told police that Cager was crossing the road when he was hit by a cream or white-colored four-door older model sedan, which then drove away. Authorities said there was no vehicle at the scene and witnesses said they saw the vehicle continue east on Salem Turnpike NW after the crash.

The South Boston Police Department received a call around 11 p.m. for a person lying by the side of the street near Howard Avenue. Upon arrival, officers say they found 48-year-old Donald Jeffreys of South Boston dead with injuries that appeared to be consistent with being hit by a car. Warrants were obtained for 47-year-old Quincy Eugene Moore of South Boston in reference to the incident. Anyone with information is asked to call the South Boston Police Department.

Christofer Valeriano-Lanza, 20, of Winchester, Virginia, is wanted on one felony count of duty to report an accident involving injury or death. The deadly crash happened on Jan. 11 at 1:41 a.m. on Route 7 (Berryville Pike) a tenth of a mile west of Route 991 (Regency Lakes). Valeriano-Lanza ran away from the crash scene before law enforcement arrived, according to state police. State police is encouraging anyone with information concerning Valeriano-Lanza’s whereabouts and/or details about the crash to please contact Virginia State Police Trooper J. Myers at 540-662-3313.

At 6:32 p.m., police responded to the 3500 block of Memorial Avenue for a report of a hit-and-run involving a pedestrian. Officers arrived and said they found a pedestrian who had been hit by a vehicle. The victim was taken to Lynchburg General Hospital with serious injuries but is expected to recover, according to police. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the Traffic Safety Unit at 434-455-6047.
