Swimmer Meagan Baxley is off to Washington and Lee, Titan goalie Rio Jarrett is going to Concord University, and three lacrosse players are moving on. SALEM, Va. – Sunday offered another great day of action on the wrestling mats in Salem with Class 3 schools vying for State Title gold. In semifinals action, JB Dragovich of Hidden Valley battled hard against Phoenix Alya of Skyline but would lose by pin fall at 2:14. In wrestlebacks, Dragovich would go on to place third in the 120 weight class. Preston would finish as runner-up after falling to Travis Ragland of New Kent by major decision. Tingler would place 6th in the 138 weight class.

DALEVILLE, Va. – Lord Botetourt defeated Hidden Valley in straight sets Tuesday night to claim it’s second consecutive Region 3D title. Senior Miette Veldman led the Cavaliers with 24 kills, 14 digs and was named the region’s player of the year. Her teammate Ryanna Clark added two aces and 9 kills an coach Julie Conner was named Coach of the Year for Region 3D. Both Hidden Valley and Lord Botetourt advance to the VHSL Class 3 State Tournament. The Cavaliers will host Fort Defiance at 6 p.m. on Saturday and the Titans will travel to Rustburg Saturday for a 6 p.m. start with the Red Devils.

ROANOKE, Va. - The Titans opened the 2019 season facing a team that hadn't beaten in a decade. Hidden Valley's senior quarterback Grayson Carroll did his part in ending a 10-year losing streak to Patrick Henry. Carroll tallied 186 yards through the air with TD passes of 16, 4, 6, 25 and 33 yards. His efforts helped coach Scott Weaver's team get off on the right foot in breaking the losing streak. Carroll is one of the Hidden Valley team captains for 2019, and as such the Titans senior quarterback Grayson Carroll is the 1st and 10 Player of the Week.

ROANOKE, Va. - Scott Weaver's Titans were 3-8 a year ago, including a first round playoff loss to Abingdon. But this very well could be the year Hidden Valley returns to the elite in the Class 3 ranks. 17 starters return for Hidden Valley. Coach Weaver says the work the team has already put in before fall camp has them on the right track. The Titans open by hosting Patrick Henry in a game they lost by a single point in 2018.

DALEVILLE, Va. – Lord Botetourt will play for its second consecutive Class 3 volleyball state championship after edging rival Hidden Valley 3-2. The Cavs handled Hidden Valley twice before this game, once in the regular season and again in the region finals. Hidden Valley played a great game tonight and I thought we just stepped it up there in the end a were able to finish it in game five," Cavaliers head coach Julie Connor said. Lord Botetourt will take on Tabb in the Class 3 Final Friday night in Salem at 8 p.m. In Class 2, Radford blanked Union 3-0 to advance to the state finals vs. Poquoson Friday at 6 p.m. in Salem.

At Eastern Montgomery High School George Wythe outlasted Covington to win the 1C title.
