Now just over three months later, officials are putting an end to mask requirements while Florida continues to see a rise in cases and deaths. โAgain, we have zero ability to regulate it.โThe governorโs executive order doesnโt specifically address mask mandates because a statewide mask mandate was never issued. In Central Florida, Orange, Seminole and Osceola counties continue to have mask mandates in effect. Cocoa Beach officials said while the city can longer enforce a mask mandate, private owned businesses can continue to have mask policies as they see fit.

According to the airline, conservative activist Brandon Straka ignored requests by crew members to wear a mask while the plane with 122 passengers prepared to leave for Dallas-Fort Worth. American said Straka will be banned until the airline drops its requirement that passengers and crew members wear face coverings to limit spread of the virus that causes COVID-19. In another video that he posted on Twitter after being banished to the gate area, he said there is no law requiring passengers to wear a mask. American and other leading U.S. airlines announced the mask rules last month.

During his Friday coronavirus update, Gov. Ralph Northam said heโd give an update about face covering requirements on Tuesday. The governor said his team would be working throughout the weekend on some type of policy. Next week, rather than address Virginians, on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, heโll only be giving two addresses per week, on Tuesday and Thursday.
