ROANOKE, Va. – Downtown Roanoke is trying to clean up its streets. The city is launching a campaign to get people to stop littering cigarette butts in the Central Business District. Workers noticed a lot of cigarette butts on the city’s streets and sidewalks, which ultimately end up in streams and rivers and can hurt the environment. That’s why the city is starting an educational campaign and plans to add receptacles downtown where people can throw away cigarette butts. This campaign is in partnership with Clean Valley Council, Downtown Roanoke Inc., Roanoke Arts Commission, Keep Virginia Beautiful, and the Solid Waste Division.

ROANOKE, Va. – If you park in downtown Roanoke, you’ll soon need to keep an eye on the clock because starting in October, the city will resume giving out parking tickets. PARK Roanoke announced that starting on Monday, October 19, it will once again give tickets for parking violations. PARK Roanoke enterprise administrator Brian Mann said if you’re going through a tough time financially and cannot pay a ticket, give them a call. Mann said at first, PARK Roanoke will issue some warnings but then it will start giving out tickets. They also created 15-minute curbside pickup parking spots throughout downtown.
