The ruling from Judge Trevor McFadden in Washington, DC, does not stop the lawsuit by the Democratic-led House Ways and Means Committee, which continues to move ahead with filings due in September. House Democrats are also trying other legal ways to obtain the documents. The Court does not fault the Committee for its time and efforts negotiating with the Administration before suing, but it is not clear why only now the Committee asks for expedited consideration of this matter," McFadden wrote Thursday. "It may be appropriate to expedite this matter at some point, but not now," he added.

On Tuesday, a woman referred to in a criminal complaint as "Ms. Jefferson" told officers that Matthew Bernard came to her house, punched her in the arm then ran away. Jefferson told authorities that shortly after he punched her, she heard multiple gunshots coming from his house next door, 1949 Keeling Drive. Authorities say Jefferson then drove to the house, where she found a body lying in the driveway. The Pittsylvania County Sheriff's Office found a woman dead in the driveway of the home as well as a woman and a baby dead inside the home.
