HENRY COUNTY, Va. – Authorities say no foul play is suspected after a man’s body was found behind a Henry County KFC last month. On Nov. 23, deputies said they received a 911 call at about 7:00 a.m. for a dead person behind the KFC at 3500 Virginia Avenue in Collinsville. The medical examiner’s office has identified the person found as Joseph Denoto, 40, of Ferrum. According to the medical examiner’s office, preliminary autopsy results showed no apparent signs of foul play or homicide. COLLINSVILLE, Va. – The Henry County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting that sent one man to the hospital on Saturday night. At about 11:35 p.m., authorities received a 911 call that someone had been shot in the Circle K parking lot at 1560 Virginia Avenue in Collinsville. The man was both alert and coherent, according to the Sheriff’s Office. He told investigators that he was in the parking lot when he heard multiple gunshots and was shot in his legs. COLLINSVILLE, Va. Authorities say crews are currently on scene of a structure fire in Henry County. According to dispatch, the fire is at 426 Colonial Drive in Collinsville. The fire was called in by an alarm system within the home around 3 a.m., according to BTW 21. BTW 21 reports that there were no injuries.

COLLINSVILLE, Va. A 52-year-old man is in jail after authorities said he robbed a Collinsville convenience store on Wednesday night. At 8:57 p.m. authorities received a 911 call after an armed robbery at Nanis Corner on Kings Mountain Road. A man entered the store, grabbed some items from the cooler and when he went to the counter, showed the clerk a gun and then left without paying , according to employees. He was arrested on one count of robbery and is being held without bond at the Henry County Jail. COLLINSVILLE, Va. - A small amount of students at a Henry County school have reported symptoms of a contagious skin infection, according to a letter sent home to parents. Any families that notice their child is experiencing symptoms of a skin infection are asked to report it to the school nurse. COLLINSVILLE, Va. - A man is recovering after an accident at a hotel pool in Henry County, according to deputies. Authorities say that around 7:15 Monday night, crews received a call for an unresponsive man at the Quality Inn/Dutch Inn at 2360 Virginia Avenue in Collinsville. Crews and others performed CPR on the 24-year-old man after he was removed from the swimming pool, according to deputies. The man, from Brooklyn, New York, was taken to Sovah Health Martinsville and later airlifted to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital where he is currently being treated. COLLINSVILLE, Va. - A chemical company that has called Henry County home for more than five years has announced a $7.7 million expansion. Jim Adams, chairman of the Henry County Board of Supervisors, announced the expansion at a news conference Wednesday. Company officials this move will allow the company to keep up with growing demand. The Martinsville-Henry County Economic Development Corporation worked with Eastman and Henry County on the expansion. The company is eligible to receive state benefits from the Virginia Enterprise Zone Program as well as local EZ benefits from Henry County.

COLLINSVILLE, Va. - Four months after opening, a Henry County ice cream shop already has plans to expand. Owner of Livy's ice cream shop, Rodney Billings, announced Monday that he plans to open the building next door to the original shop, located at 2824 Virginia Avenue in Collinsville, in October, according to assistant director of public relations for the shop, Luis Romero. "It's exciting to get to this point so quickly and we wouldn't be here without the support of the community. We're open seven days a week and every single day, we see some folks that come back every day," said Billings. As for the original shop, Billings says he hopes to utilize it, but the exact details of how are to be decided.
