(AP Photo/Andy Wong, File)BEIJING โ China has protested to the United States and Japan over a joint statement it said โmaliciously attackedโ its foreign policy and seriously interfered in Chinaโs internal affairs, the Foreign Ministry said Wednesday.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Zhao Lijian said China was โstrongly dissatisfied and resolutely opposedโ to the statement.
The China-Japan statement expressed concern over threats to Taiwan, Beijingโs human rights violations in Xinjiang, its activities in the South China Sea and โunilateral action that seeks to change the status quoโ over Japan-controlled East China Sea islands that China also claims.
The statement โmaliciously attacked Chinaโs foreign policy, seriously interfered in Chinaโs internal affairs and tried to harm Chinaโs interests," Zhao told reporters at a daily briefing.
