The city police department was notified of an alleged assault Friday. As a result, the Lynchburg Police Department is currently investigating and the Blue Ridge Regional Jail Authority is cooperating fully, the police department said in a release Saturday night. While the police department nor jail officials have named the inmate/victim, the family has identified them as 26-year-old Carroll Williams. WSLS 10 News spoke to the family regarding the allegations and has reached out to the Lynchburg Police Department to confirm the graphic accusations.

Authorities learned that Christian had gone to the area of Charleston, West Virginia. Marshals Task Force, out of Southern District of West Virginia, Christian was quickly arrested in Ravenswood, WV without incident. In Salem, Christian is charged with felony murder, malicious wounding, reckless handling of a firearm and three counts of child neglect. First, a man shot someone in Salem, then, drove down to Blacksburg where he carjacked someone near Virginia Techโs campus.

Officials said that a Norfolk Southern Corp. bridge collapsed in Roanoke County near Barley Drive Friday night around 11:15 p.m. The bridge collapsed while a train carrying coal was crossing the Roanoke River, and a dozen of 22 rail cars that derailed fell into the river, causing about 2000 tons of coal to fall out. The medical examinerโs office officially identified his body this week, but the manner and cause of death remain unknown. According to the warrant, the cooperating witness believes Zachary was killed by the man in question to silence him over the larceny of five firearms on July 16. The search warrant will give Pittsylvania County police access to cell phone contents and geo-location information belonging to the man named by the witness. Pittsylvania County Sheriffโs Office said this case remains classified as a death investigation.

The Emmy Award is the premier television production award presented in various sectors of the television industry, including entertainment programming, news and documentary shows, and sports programming. The awards honor excellence in television programming. This comes as WSLS won three 2020 RTDNA Regional Murrow Awards in the small market television category.

The National Weather Service has issued a tornado warning for parts of Roanoke and Montgomery counties. At 3:37 p.m., a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located over Huffman, or near Mountain Lake, moving southeast at 35 mph. Tornado Warning on April 8 Tornado warning issued parts of for parts Roanoke and Montgomery counties. At one point, the warning covered parts of Craig and Giles counties, but that has since been lifted in those areas.
