Democratic U.S. Sen. Mark Warner of Virginia and his Republican opponent, Daniel Gade, sparred over how best to respond to the coronavirus and other health care issues Tuesday in their third and final debate. Warner blasted Gade for backing the president and being unrealistic about what’s needed to defeat the virus and restart the economy. Gade repeatedly attacked Warner for voting against GOP coronavirus relief legislation, which Gade said was desperately needed in Virginia. On prescription drugs, Gade said Warner can’t be trusted because he’s taken significant donations from the pharmaceutical industry. Warner said Gade wanted to repeal the Affordable Care Act and end protections for people with preexisting conditions, something Gade strenuously denied.
