Rhyne’s organization also hosted a massive food giveaway following the prayer vigil. On Friday, the Pittsylvania-Danville & Southside Health Districts hosted a drive-thru coronavirus testing event. “I would hope that people would be interested whether the President was or not, but if that’s an encouragement, please do," stated Chris Garret, Local Health Emergency Coordinator, Pittsylvania-Danville & Southside Health Districts.

While the Roanoke City Jail was late to experience positive coronavirus cases, some family members of inmates said jail-wide testing should have taken place sooner. As 10 News has reported, the Roanoke City Sheriffs Office announced everyone would be tested following several positive cases. A total of 14 inmates at the Roanoke City Jail have tested positive for the coronavirus, according to the Roanoke City Sheriffs Office. On Monday, the Sheriffs Office announced that of 389 inmates who were tested, 10 tested positive. This 10 is in addition to the four cases among inmates and 14 cases among Sheriffs Office staff, that 10 News has previously reported.

You dont have to have an appointment, no insurance, no fees...Dont even have to have symptoms...first come, first served, only qualifications is you have to be one of the 300 to show up and youll be tested," said Capt Kevin Moore, Rockbridge County Fire and Rescue. Local first responders are seeing an increase in demand for testing. They found only 3% of the people tested during last weeks testing event in Raphine received positive results.
