Lynchburg’s Commonwealth’s Attorney Bethany Harrison is discussing the consequences of swatting after a threat Monday.

As the start of a new school year quickly approaches, local law enforcement agencies are urging parents to talk to their kids about the dangers of “swatting,” a fake call about a threat or emergency.

The law leads to either or both a $2,500 fine and up to 12 months in jail for calling in a fake emergency.
