BOTETOURT COUNTY, Va. โ A 50-year-old Dublin man is in jail after police said he led them on a chase for about 30 miles on Friday. Eventually, Bedford police ended their pursuit and Virginia State Police took over. The chase went into Botetourt County and ended on U.S. 220 when Rakes ran over spike strips laid down by state police, according to state police. He was wanted in Bath County for the stolen vehicle and will face additional charges relating to the pursuit.

Shawnon Wray, 46, of Martinsville, was charged with public intoxication and possession of a schedule I/II narcotic, according to Roanoke police. Authorities said this is related to a narcotics investigation.

It happened just before 8:30 p.m. on Peters Creek Road NW at the Peters Creek Laundromat next to Hardees, just up and across the street from Sheetz. Everyone inside safely evacuated and no one was hurt, according to Roanoke Fire-EMS. Roanoke Fire-EMS said the fire was ruled accidental and started in a dryer. Crews from Salem Fire-EMS assisted with the response.

Thomas Builders is also planning a retail development featuring two 6,600 square foot multi-use commercial buildings. Construction started about two weeks ago, however itโs not clear when everything will be completed.
