Sean Doolittle has decided to retire from baseball after more than a decade spent pitching in the majors.

Aaron Judge, Edwin Díaz, Trea Turner, Dansby Swanson and Xander Bogaerts were among 131 players who became free agents as baseball’s business season began just hours after the final out of the World Series.

WASHINGTON The defending World Series champion Nationals canceled their workout Monday because of COVID-19 testing delays that general manager Mike Rizzo worried could endanger the baseball season. All players and staff were tested Friday, and Rizzo said the team still hasn't received those results. We will not sacrifice the health and safety of our players, staff and their families. Two Nationals players who took part in in-take testing last week tested positive. Martinez said some of the 60 players tested were still awaiting results.

(CNN) - President Donald Trump welcomed the newest Major League Baseball World Series champs, the Washington Nationals, to a celebration at the White House Monday afternoon. "For the first time in nearly 100 years, our nation's capital is celebrating a World Series victory," Trump said during a celebration from the South Portico of the White House. "The last time Washington, DC, was home to the World Series champs the president was a man named Calvin Coolidge." A few Nationals players were absent from the celebration, according to a list of anticipated attendees provided by the White House. The President attended Game 5 of the World Series alongside several Republican members of Congress in Washington.

"People say you should go because it's about respecting the office of the president," Doolittle told the Post. Doolittle, who spoke out at the time condemning the Charlottesville rally, told the Post that Trump's rhetoric has enabled and empowered racism and white supremacy. CNN has reached out to the Washington Nationals for comment. The Nationals beat the Houston Astros in Game 7 on Wednesday, earning the franchise's first World Series title.
