"Her elite performance and commitment to excellence has earned her the right to officiate the Super Bowl. This will be the first Super Bowl for Coleman as well as Thomas and second for Cheffers, Bryan, Baynes, Hall and Paganelli.

While Eastin was the first woman to officiate an NFL regular season game, she wasn't the first full-time female official in NFL history. That honor goes to Sarah Thomas, who was hired by the NFL in April 2015. Already the first woman to officiate a major college football game, the first to officiate a college bowl game, and the first to officiate in a Big Ten stadium, she officiated her first regular season NFL game on Sept. 13, 2015. The 37-year-old from Colorado, a breast cancer survivor, dove into the water off Dover, England, Sunday and went to France then back to England four times without stopping.
