SALEM, Va. – The 16th annual Guns ’N Hoses softball game contested Friday night at the Salem Memorial Ballpark did not disappoint. The Police built a lead in this game, but the Firefighters stormed back with a 3-run rally in the bottom of the 9th. The “Hoses” extinguished the “Guns” 10-9 in the annual grudge match. The firefighters versus police event raises money for the local Muscular Dystrophy Association. “It’s going to be great camaraderie between us and the cops,” 1st Lieutenant C.J.

SALEM, Va. A country star thats coming to Salem, Chase Rice, is facing major backlash after holding a concert in Tennessee this past weekend with fans standing side-by-side without wearing face coverings. Rice posted a video of the concert on his Instagram story, which has since been deleted. However, it was recorded and shared by another woman on twitter. In response, Wendy Delano, Director of Civic Facilities for the City of Salem told 10 News in a statement:Rice is set to perform at the Salem Memorial Ballpark at 7 p.m. on Friday, August 14.

SALEM, Va. A parking lot behind the Salem Civic Center will transform into a drive-in movie theater on Friday night. The Salem Parks and Recreation Department is hosting Frozen II.Gates open at 7:30 p.m. and the move will begin at dusk, around 9 p.m. Admission is free and the parking lot is limited to 50% capacity. Cars will face the entrance of Salem Memorial Ballpark, lined up in every other parking spot to ensure proper social distancing. Organizers ask guests to practice common sense social distancing and wear face coverings when theyre outside of their vehicles.

SALEM, Va. After days of ominous clues posted to Facebook, the Salem Civic Center has announced that Chase Rice will be playing at the Salem Memorial Ballpark in August. The country singer and former reality TV star will be performing on Aug. 14, and tickets are set to go on sale this Friday on the Ticketmaster website. Rice is known for co-writing the song Cruise by Florida Georgia Line and for his single Ready Set Roll. His first number one hit, Eyes on You, has accounted for nearly 350 million streams and almost 34 million YouTube views. He first came into the spotlight when he was the runner up on Survivor: Nicaragua in 2010. He was also a linebacker at University of North Carolina and NASCAR pit crew member for Hendrick Motorsports.

SALEM, Va. More than a dozen 13-and-under baseball teams that are part of the Virginia United States Specialty Sports Association have taken to Salem Memorial Ballpark for a tournament this weekend. With ongoing discussions about major and minor league baseballs return, Haley Toyota Field was available for use this weekend. Salem Red Sox general manager Allen Lawrence said they were happy to welcome the youngsters. While the Salem Red Sox dont make profit from ticket sales, they do benefit from concession sales which is pivotal during the clubs uncertainty for a 2020 season. We havent had a Red Sox game since last August so every little bit of revenue helps.

Officers from the Salem Police Department and the Salem Sheriff's Office will be at Salem Red Sox game on Aug 6 for National Night Out. You'll have the opportunity to meet officers, learn about crime prevention in your neighborhood and explore careers in law enforcement. The Salem Red Sox will be playing the Lynchburg Hillcats. National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie.
