Police say a driver in a Honda Civic was going the wrong way when he hit a GMC Yukon. The crash is still under investigation, and police say names will not be released until family members have been notified.

HENRY COUNTY, Va. – Virginia State Police say a man driving a motorcycle died Saturday morning after a car hit him along Route 58 in Henry County. He was wearing a helmet but died at the scene. The driver of the other car, Robert Handy, 73 was wearing a seatbelt and was not hurt. The passenger, Margaret Handy, 73, was taken to the hospital for her injuries. Robert Handy has been charged with failing to yield to the right of way in the crash.

HALIFAX COUNTY, Va. An 18-year-old woman died in a crash Sunday afternoon in Halifax County, according to Virginia State Police. At about 3:20 p.m., police responded to Route 58, a mile east of Route 747, after a 2000 Acura TL ran off the left side of the road and hit a tree. A passenger in the vehicle, Kolby Singleton, 18, of Danville, was not wearing a seat belt and died at the scene, according to police. The crash remains under investigation. PATRICK COUNTY, Va. – A 70-year-old man is dead after a crash in Patrick County on Sunday, according to Virginia State Police. Authorities say the crash happened around 12:20 p.m. on Route 58 two miles east of Route 620. According to state police, Ronald Elliott of Ridgeway was going west on Route 58 on a 2004 Harley Davidson when the motorcycle crossed the center line and hit a 2018 Nissan Titan. Police say Elliott was wearing a helmet and died at the scene. Authorities say the driver of the Nissan, Michael Hubbard, 76, of Meadows of Dan, was wearing his seatbelt and was not hurt in the crash.

HALIFAX COUNTY, Va. – A murder investigation is now underway after state police say two people who were found dead near the scene of a car crash weren’t killed during the crash. State police say Ntombo Bianda, 21, of Alexandria, Va., and Ayanna Griffin, 19, of Germantown, Md., were found dead on a median of Route 58 near Melon Road in the Turbeville community of Halifax County early Saturday morning. Just before 3:00 a.m. on Saturday, troopers arrived to the scene of what appeared to be a single-vehicle crash. State police say they found a silver 2009 Nissan Maxima registered to Bianda in the median and two bodies nearby. HALIFAX COUNTY, Va. - A Richmond man died after a single-vehicle crash in Halifax County. The crash happened on Sunday just before 4 a.m. on Route 58, less than a mile west of Sandy Beach Road. The driver, Terrence Tyler, 21, died at the scene. He was not wearing a seat belt, according to the Virginia State Police. The Virginia State Police is investigating the crash.

HALIFAX COUNTY, Va. - A man a killed in a single-vehicle crash in Halifax County. It happened on Wednesday at 4:45 p.m. on Route 58, less than a mile east of Route 730, according to Virginia State Police. A 1998 Chevy S-10 pickup was headed east on Route 58 when it overturned several times, according to Virginia State Police. The driver was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle. Virginia State Police is investigating this crash.

SCOTT COUNTY, Va. - A woman is dead and a man has life-threatening injuries after a single-vehicle crash in Scott County. It happened on Thursday at 11:20 p.m. in the 15500 block of Bristol Highway. A 2011 Chevrolet pickup truck was driving west on Route 58 when it ran off the left side of the road and struck a tree, according to the Virginia State Police. The driver was flown to Bristol Regional Medical Center, where he was treated for life-threatening injuries. Charges are pending and the crash is still under investigation, according to the Virginia State Police.

Authorities say the three-vehicle crash happened Saturday around midnight on Route 58, less than a mile west of Route 722. A 2011 Subaru Impreza was going west on Route 58 when it ran off the right side of the highway onto a private drive. Police say the impact of the crash sent the Subaru into a culvert. It then reportedly hit a highway sign and went back into the westbound lanes of Route 58, where it collided with a 2007 Pontiac G6 that was going west on Route 58 at the time of the crash.

PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY, Va. - A 70-year-old Cascade woman died in a hospital after crashing in Pittsylvania County on Wednesday night. The crash happened just after 10:30 p.m. on Route 58 near Route 51. Joan Stewart was driving a 2015 Toyota Venza west on Route 58 when she ran off the right side of the roadway into a ditch, overturned and then hit a building, according to state police. She was wearing her seat belt at the time of the crash and was transported to Roanoke Memorial Hospital, where she later died. The crash remains under investigation.

HALIFAX COUNTY, Va. - A Halifax County sheriff's deputy had to be taken to a hospital after a crash Tuesday night. The crash happened at 10:22 p.m. at the intersection of Route 501 and Route 58. The deputy driving slowed before entering the intersection but was hit on the side by a 2017 Nissan Versa traveling east on Route 58, according to state police. The sheriff's deputy, Giles Jones, 33, of Halifax County, was taken to the hospital to be treated for minor injuries. The driver of the Nissan was not injured in the crash.
