Tacos Rojas Mexican restaurant opened its new location within the food court on Tuesday. The restaurant has already made a name for itself with its first location on 13th Street SW adjacent to the Memorial Bridge. Market Building Foundation Executive Director Elliot Broyles says it took two months for Tacos Rojas to open up. He says it is a perfect fit for a food court reliant on family-owned fare.

Bill Gaul and Dremma Gaul, co-owners of Three Li'l Pigs Barbeque, announced on Facebook that they sold the business to their "right-hand man," Brian Tyree. The restaurant will stay open. "Three Li'l Pigs Barbeque began in the Roanoke City Market Building in 1990, then moved to its current location in Botetourt County in 2003. Prior to opening Three Li'l Pigs Barbeque, the Gauls started Burger in the Square in 1986, also inside the Roanoke City Market Building.

That's the message behind Fridays kickoff to Roanokes Second Annual Welcoming Week. Starting Monday there will be several events throughout the city for immigrants refugees and native-born locals. Fridays launch at Roanoke City Market Building featured remarks from city officials, lawmakers, immigrants and the local organizations that support them. Last year was the first Welcoming Roanoke Week, but Roanoke wasnt the only city to get involved.
