Football and track star Kawuan Ray died Tuesday evening, according to school leaders who shared the news Tuesday on Facebook. School leaders said Ray died unexpectedly from a medical emergency. Ray led the football and track teams to state championships. But school leaders said, “More importantly Kawuan was a light in our hallways and classrooms, and his absence will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of teaching him, coaching him and calling him a friend.”

St. Patrick’s Day weekend 2020 was around the time large gatherings were getting canceled and the first guidelines were starting to be put in place. Roanoke Catholic School hosts virtual Shamrock Hill 5K after postponing the race twice. You can still dress up in costume, get a good run in and help raise money for Roanoke Catholic School.

Harlem Globetrotter Zeus McClurkin stopped by and showed off some of his skills; however, he was there for a much bigger reason. McClurkin talked with students about bullying as part of T.E.A.M., a Globetrotter program aiming to provide students with bullying solutions . "Bullying is still a huge epidemic nowadays in schools and hopefully we can get a good message through to them," McClurkin said. The Harlem Globetrotters will bring their 2020 Pushing the Limits World Tour to the Berglund Center on March 11.
