A 36-year-old Ridgeway man was taken into custody following an executed search warrant that took place on Nov. 20, according to the Henry County Sherriff’s Office.
The Henry County Sheriff's office executed a search warrant on Tuesday and apprehended 44-year-old William Kennedy on multiple charges.
Meteorologists from the NWS in Blacksburg have concluded that an EF-1 tornado occurred in Halifax Co. Wednesday night.

RIDGEWAY, Va – When NASCAR drivers start their engines at the Martinsville Speedway this year, a small number of fans will be there to cheer them on thanks to relaxed COVID-19 restrictions. The rules take effect before a tripleheader of Martinsville races from April 8-10. In a statement to 10 News, Martinsville Speedway President Clay Campbell said:“We are encouraged by today’s announcement on the increase in limited fan capacity for entertainment venues across the Commonwealth of Virginia. We are grateful for Governor Ralph Northam and his administration’s leadership as we follow the state’s pathway to welcome limited fans back to Martinsville Speedway. When a lot of people lose, the economy gets worse and worse.”In addition to the races in April, Martinsville Speedway also has races scheduled during Halloween weekend.

HENRY COUNTY, Va. – Authorities may have found the body of a woman last seen earlier this summer. On Sunday, at 12:20 p.m., authorities in Henry County received a 911 call that a vehicle had been found over a steep embankment in the 2900 block of Chestnut Knob Road in Ridgeway, according to the Henry County Sheriff’s Office. This is the same vehicle that Jeneen Lavita Valentine was driving at the time of her disappearance in July. Late last month, the Sheriff’s Office updated the case, to say that investigators have searched Valentine’s home, the surrounding area and nearby roads on both on the ground and via drone for any evidence related to her disappearance. Inside the Toyota, authorities found human remains, which were taken to the medical examiner’s office for identification and an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death.

PATRICK COUNTY, Va. – A 70-year-old man is dead after a crash in Patrick County on Sunday, according to Virginia State Police. Authorities say the crash happened around 12:20 p.m. on Route 58 two miles east of Route 620. According to state police, Ronald Elliott of Ridgeway was going west on Route 58 on a 2004 Harley Davidson when the motorcycle crossed the center line and hit a 2018 Nissan Titan. Police say Elliott was wearing a helmet and died at the scene. Authorities say the driver of the Nissan, Michael Hubbard, 76, of Meadows of Dan, was wearing his seatbelt and was not hurt in the crash.

RIDGEWAY, Va. – We’re still a few months away from racing at Martinsville Speedway, but excitement is already building. For the first time in 10 years, the Whelen Modified Tour will return to the paperclip. We’d run them for years and years and guys would come down here from the North,” said Martinsville Speedway track president Clay Campbell. He raced a Cup Series car full-time in 2019 and is the 2008 Whelen Series Martinsville winner. The MAXPRO Window Films 200 will kick off the weekend of full of activities on May 8th under the lights, with the Cup Series to follow on Saturday night, May 9.
The First Data 500 exhilarated tens of thousands of fans at the Martinsville Speedway in one of the last races of the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup season. While some fans came to see their favorite drivers, others came because of their admiration for the historic speedway. Shenk, a Virginia Tech graduate, showed off his Virginia roots at the race by wearing a vintage shirt depicting former driver Elliott Sadler in his No. 21 Virginia Tech car. This was Martinsville's second and final Monster Energy NASCAR Cup race of the season, following the STP 500 in March.
RIDGEWAY, Va. - UPDATEA man who barricaded himself and a woman inside a motel Friday is in custody, according to the Henry County Sheriff's Office. When authorities were attempting to serve the paperwork, Patel became uncooperative and began to barricade himself inside the motel, according to the Henry County Sheriff's Office. Authorities discovered that a woman was inside with Patel and she appeared to be in distress, according to the Henry County Sheriff's Office. The Sheriffs Office says it also received a secondary call that the woman was being held hostage inside the motel. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Henry County Sheriffs Office at 276-638-8751.
RIDGEWAY, Va. - Martinsville Speedway replaced its cars with a carnival for the Fourth of July. The speedway hosted an Independence Day celebration, which attracted thousands of people from around Southside Virginia. The celebration featured free carnival rides, two musical performances and fireworks when the sun went down. "It's an honor to celebrate our nation's independence and have this celebration with everyone in Henry County coming out to the speedway," Martinsville Speedway president Clay Campbell said. The celebration has been a Fourth of July tradition for the speedway for more than 20 years, and Campbell says he is not going to stop the tradition any time soon.
