WASHINGTON While the Redskins name has been retired, we now have a temporary name for the NFL team based in Washington, D.C.On Thursday, the former Washington Redskins changed their name on Twitter to Washington Football Team and altered their Twitter handle to @WashingtonNFL. No word yet on when a new team name will be released.

WASHINGTON More than a dozen women who used to work for the Washington Redskins talked about how they were sexually harassed while working for the team, according to a Washington Post article published Thursday afternoon. The article details allegations against Larry Michael, Alex Santos, Richard Mann II, Denis Greene and Mitch Gershman. Both Santos, who served as the teams director of pro personnel, and Mann, his top scouting assistant, were fired within the past week. Greene, the former president of business operations, had his career with the team ended in 2018 amid a scandal that he sold access to Redskins cheerleaders. Hes alleged to have once told Rhiannon Walker, a reporter for The Athletic, that she had worn the f--- out of her jeans.

On the traditional and of course more likely side are Red Tails, Warriors, Generals, Monuments, Senators, Cherry Blossoms, Red Wolves or even Hogs (which pays tribute to an offensive line from long ago). Since mid June, 14 different trademarks have been filed by people for a potential Washington football team, including Red Tails, Red Wolves, Monuments and a version of Hogs. Both sides hate it.So that gives the opportunity for a little fun like Swamp Monsters or Gridlock, which Davis likes.

The NFL team announced Monday the name will be changed. For years, there have been calls for a name change because the name is seen by many as offensive, but the pressure has been stronger than ever the past few days in response to the nationwide push for society to be more sensitive to all races. I think it sends a message that, having reflected on this issue not just in recent times but this debate has been going on for years now, they have listened to their constituents, reflected on the issue and decided to make a change that is consistent with other changes that we see happening, said Logan. The move follows FedEx, the named sponsor of the Redskins stadium, asking the team to change its name. WASHINGTON The recent national debate over racism has renewed calls for the NFL's Washington Redskins to change their name, with Native American advocates believing the climate is right for action despite no evidence owner Dan Snyder is considering it. A University of California, Berkeley, study released earlier this year revealed 49% of the 1,000 Native Americans surveyed agreed or strongly agreed that the name was offensive. Initiatives like Change the Mascot and IllumiNative also protest against other Native American team names, mascots and traditions besides the Redskins. It's unclear if recent events have shifted the thinking of Snyder, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell or other owners. Halbritter said the name "is not harmless" because of the degrading effect on Native Americans and hopes this movement is enough to change it.

RICHMOND, Va. - It's one thing to make an NFL roster, but another to actually make an impact. That's the focus for three former Hokies who are part of the Redskins defense. That includes Virginia Tech product Greg Stroman, who made his presence known a season ago-making 38 tackles and an interception. "You have to find out how to eat, how to work out and you have to find yourself," said Settle. We can expect these three to lean on former Hokie and now Redskins defensive quality control coach, Kyshoen Jarrett, who made the ultimate impact, playing in 15 games for Washington in 2015.

RICHMOND, Va. - Former Hokies star Kyshoen Jarrett played in all 16 games for the Redskins as an NFL rookie in 2015 before a devastating spinal cord injury, ended his playing career--but not his focus on football. Jarrett is back in burgundy as a defensive quality control coach for the Redskins. Kyshoen Jarrett, Redskins quality control coach said, "Theyve had open arms since this injury has taken place," Jarrett said. Hes going to be a great great football coach.Jarrett rejoins the Virginia tech fraternity that includes defensive backs, Greg Stroman, Adonis Alexander and defensive lineman, Tim Settle in the Redskins camp. It's a kind of a touch that Hokie stone and walk through that tunnel, Jarrett said.

PAMPLONA, Spain - Redskins corner Josh Norman has been really enjoying the offseason by traveling and even jumping -- over bulls. The 31-year-old ran with the bulls, but that wasn't enough. WASHINGTON (WSLS-10 SPORTS) -Former Hokies safety Kyshoen Jarrett has been waived by the Redskins as training camp approaches this week. He suffered a shoulder injury that resulted in a nerve damage issue in Washington's regular season finale against the Cowboys. In 16 regular season games Jarrett finished 6th on the Redskins in tackles with 63 along with two passes defended and a forced fumble. He played 602 defensive snaps and 102 special teams snaps in his rookie year. Redskins training camp is set to open in Richmond on Thursday the 28th.
