Roanoke County Parks Recreation and Tourism partnered with the Regional Center for Animal Care & Protection for a day full of doggie splashes and fetch.

Folks in Vinton got a chance to meet with some adorable dogs earlier today all with the hopes of finding them forever homes.

There is an adoption event from 1 - 5 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 17 at the Regional Center for Animal Care & Protection.

Both Paris and Prada have been adopted after spending several weeks at the Regional Center for Animal Care & Protection in Roanoke.

The program gives people the chance to take a dog out of the shelter for the day.

Roanoke Valley SPCA is teaming up with four other local shelters to offer adoption specials this weekend.

ROANOKE, Va. – Lucky is a gorgeous panther cat who is 10 years old and sweet as she can be. She arrived at RCACP when her owner surrendered her in the beginning of June through no fault of her own, according to RCACP staff. She’s a little shy, but actively seeks attention and loves a good head rub. Lucky would do best in a quiet home without small children and a sunny spot to call her own. ROANOKE, Va. A special cat that is no stranger to a Roanoke animal shelter may finally have found its furever home. The average weight of an adult cat is 8 to 10 pounds. On Tuesday, a family agreed to foster her from the Roanoke Center for Animal Care and Adoption to see if shell be a good fit for the family. She was surrendered by her owner earlier this year and was surrendered by her previous owner last year. She is a phenomenal cat, but is a very independent spirit.
