Pulaski Co handled Patrick Henry in a battle of quality River Ridge District girls basketball programs.

Dublin, Va. – Thursday night included a prep wrestling match in Dublin. Carroll’s Caviness scored a reversal, but Pulaski’s Ramsey eventually prevails by fall in the third period. But Pulaski’s Holmes comes alive in the third period and applies the clamps for the fall. at 285 pounds, Zeke Serber took on Dameon Robinson. The Cougars Serber was in control the entire period, and he wins by pin at 1:29.

Former Galax head coach Mark Dixon is in charge at Pulaski now, but even though some things are new, one thing hasn’t changed. “I love coming here every day and working hard. He’s an amazing coach, played in the NFL for 9 seasons, that’s a great accomplishment,” Cougars senior Zeke Surber said. The Cougars have been working out for a few days now, while taking every precaution mandated by the VHSL. It’s serious, pretty serious.

NARROWS, Va. The Narrows girls basketball team is ready to turn the page and start fresh with a new coach. Former Pulaski girls basketball head coach Bradley Sutphin has been named the new head coach for the Green Wave. Sutphin lead the Cougars to a Class 4 state runner-up finish in 2019, and this season they won the region 4D title and went 21-7. A lot of the girls over here are excited as much as Ive talked to them, Sutphin said. Its been a smooth transition but the hardest thing I ever had to do was telling the girls over at Pulaski.

Dublin, Va. Pulaski County has brought in another heavyweight to lead their tradition rich football program. Former UVA and NFL offensive lineman Mark Dixon takes over in Dublin. Dixon comes to the Cougars from Galax, where he compiled a staggering 101-35 mark in his ten years at the helm. Galax won six region championships in ten seasons with Dixon on the sidelines. We feel very fortunate to have a coach the caliber of Mark Dixon.

A changing of the guard is in the works at Pulaski County as coach Stephen James has resigned his post as the Cougars head football coach after six seasons. The team went 43-20 with five playoff berths during James tenure. In Salem Berlyn Seitz is the new varsity head girls basketball coach. She comes to the Spartans from Franklin County where she served as a varsity assistant. The Bridgewater College grad has also been a varsity assistant at Liberty High School in Bedford.
