Head coach Justin Fuente said his team decided to opt-out of a bowl game this season. [Justin Fuente will remain Hokies head coach in 2021]While Fuente said some did want to play, in order to accept a possible invitation, his whole team would have to be on board. With the Hokies not appearing in a bowl game, that snaps the longest active bowl streak in the nation at 27 straight bowl appearances.

The win moves the Hokies to 6-0 and 1-0 in the league. The Panthers (5-4, 4-4 Atlantic Coast Conference) were missing 16 players due to COVID-19 protocols. โDisappointed we didnโt get more stops, disappointed we couldnโt convert on 3rd and short and 4th and short. Had the one turnover but couldnโt get things in the endzone, score points, convert on short yardage and defensively had a hard time getting pressure on the quarterback, " Hokies coach Justin Fuente said. The Hokies look to bounce back from this loss as they take on the Clemson Tigers on Dec. 5 at Lane Stadium.
