A Pembroke man and Pearisburg woman were arrested after authorities seized narcotics, guns, and other items from a Giles County residence on Tuesday, according to the Giles County Sheriff’s Office.

The Giles County Sheriff’s Office is currently working to bring a man who they believe is armed into custody in the Pembroke area.

The Giles County Sheriff’s Office has announced the arrest of a man in connection with multiple vehicle thefts in and around Pembroke and Narrows from July to Oct. 2022.

Auditors have found no evidence of fraud or political bias in a controversial New Hampshire election that has drawn the interest of Donald Trump.

A person locked inside of a broken-down vehicle has blocked access to a Mountain Valley Pipeline construction site, according to Appalachians Against Pipelines.

The line for hot dogs backed up onto Route 460, and the rescue squad had trouble keeping up with the demand at times. “We had to call other businesses to see if they could donate weenies and buns," said Giles Rescue Squad Sergeant Amber Jones, who came up with the idea for the fundraiser. They don’t want a hot dog, they just want to show their support," said Freeman. "We try to get them to take a hot dog, and they don’t want one. They just came to give.”The rescue squad raised approximately $20,000 before the hot dog benefit, which means Freeman now has about $40,000 to find a new home.

PEMBROKE, Va. – Barney’s Wall and the Cascades is a 4 mile round trip hike that has mountain and waterfall views. Full disclaimer, if you don’t have four wheel drive, you probably won’t make it up to this spot. Walk up the road a few yards then the sign for the trail is on your left. Not the cascades, but definitely a pretty part of Little Stony Creek. But we made it, and I would recommend this hike for sure, but maybe on a cooler day.

GILES COUNTY, Va. – Several people are in the hospital after a tractor-trailer accident in Giles County. Authorities say the accident happened in Pembroke on US-460 West around 10 a.m. Wednesday. PEMBROKE, Va. - Volunteer fire departments in Giles County are struggling to afford lifesaving equipment that keeps first responders and the community safe. The Pembroke Volunteer Fire Department was awarded a Federal Emergency Management Agency grant worth more than $720,000 to buy an air compressor, 55 masks, and 99 new air packs self-contained breathing apparatus. "It was a real relief," said Wayne Woodyard, the assistant chief at the Poplar Hill department and a volunteer at Pembroke. The departments wont get the new equipment until the spring, but knowing its on its way, Woodyard and Neice are breathing a sigh of relief. "We're going to be taking care of our guys, giving them the best equipment that we can afford as possible.

PEMBROKE – Mountain Lake Lodge in Pembroke has been named “Hotel of the Year” by the Virginia Restaurant, Lodging & Travel Association which annually recognizes the best among the State’s hospitality and tourism industry.
