Kids of any age, from the Greater Lynchburg area, can schedule an appointment to visit. Then, they’ll be paired up with a college student-athlete to pick out the clothing or equipment they need.

The Lynchburg-based nonprofit runs the Clothing Connection, which provides a retail-shopping experience. Every item is donated and free.

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Kroger is helping one Lynchburg organization distribute meals to children in need. The supermarket chain donated $39,000 to assist Park View Community Mission in purchasing two more vans. The vehicles will be used for their Food for Thought Program, which provides meals to children on weekends. The new vans are wrapped with Park View’s logo and other images. “The hope is that the vans will be more identifiable, having been wrapped with Park View, instead of just random people pulling up in random vehicles and handing out bags of food,” said Gordy Harper, Park View’s executive director.

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Giving Tuesday is this week -- and local nonprofits need your help more than ever before. Staff members at Park View Community Mission in Lynchburg say they’ve seen an influx of people since the COVID-19 pandemic began. We’re told around 1,300 people in the community go hungry every day. “Saturday they say, ‘Shop local.’ On Tuesday, we hope it will be ‘Give local;’ and I like to say because then you know where it’s going, especially if it’s a food pantry like ours,” said Earl Larkins, a Park View spokesperson. The global day of giving takes place every Tuesday after Thanksgiving.

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Park View Community Mission is giving away nearly 200 boxes of produce donated by the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank. Volunteers were outside Lynchburg’s middle and high schools Friday, and they’ll be out again on Monday. Earl Larkins, a Park View spokesperson, says they’re doing their best to assist families during the coronavirus pandemic. “We have had close to 800 families that have come to Park View Community Mission since the pandemic began — that have never come to a pantry before. You can pick up produce at any of Lynchburg’s middle or high schools Monday between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.
