Read full article: Averrett University to join ODAC in 2022-2023DANVILLE, Va. – Averett University has announced that its Department of Athletics has been offered and has accepted membership to the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC), beginning with the 2022-23 academic year. ”Becoming a member of the esteemed ODAC is both exciting and an honor,” Averett University President Dr. Tiffany M. Franks said. ”Averett University has been privileged to compete in the USA South, and we will always treasure the years of spirited competition,” Franks said. Current ODAC member Emory & Henry College will depart the ODAC after the 2021-22 academic year as it transitions to NCAA Division II. Greensboro College is an affiliate member of the ODAC in swimming, as is Southern Virginia University in football through 2020-21.

After defeating Emory & Henry back on January 24 in a non-conference matchup, the Maroons looked to pick up an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) win on Thursday night. How it Happened:Renee Alquiza hit a three-pointer on Roanoke’s first possession to give the Maroons the early lead. Emory & Henry would answer with a 6-0 run to take their first lead of the contest, 8-7, with 4:30 to play in the opening period. Leading 34-30, Roanoke would end the half on a 7-0 run thanks to another Alquiza three-pointer and baskets by Hopson and Jayla Faison.

Read full article: ODAC postpones fall, winter sports through the end of calendar yearFOREST, Va. – The Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Presidents Council voted to postpone conference competition and championships for fall and winter sports through the end of the 2020 calendar year The ODAC remains focused on providing meaningful competition for all student-athletes in 2020-21, which includes an intention to sponsor conference competition for fall and winter sports in the spring semester. “In light of the broader public health concerns surrounding athletic competitions, the well-being of our campuses and everyone involved in athletic competition made this decision the right one. ”The conference’s leadership worked extremely hard to explore ways we might have conducted conference championships and competition in the fall,” explained ODAC Commissioner Brad Bankston. The ODAC leadership will communicate further developments regarding competition in 2020-21 as solutions are finalized and implemented. ODAC member schools include Ferrum College, Hollins University, University of Lynchburg, Roanoke College, Sweet Briar College, Washington and Lee University and the football program at Southern Virginia University.
