Incumbent Ben Cline (R) and Jennifer Lewis (D) are vying for Virginia’s 6th congressional district the U.S. House of Representatives.

ROANOKE, Va. – Rep. Ben Cline is projected to continue serving Virginia’s 6th Congressional District in Washington. The incumbent Republican lawmaker is expected to defeat his Democratic opponent Nicholas Betts. The 6th District covers Roanoke and Lynchburg and goes up Interstate 81 from Roanoke to Front Royal and also includes Lynchburg, Lexington, Staunton, Waynesboro and Harrisonburg. LEXINGTON, Va. – Nicholas Betts is a political outsider, but he believes that perspective makes him the perfect person to represent Virginia’s 6th Congressional District. The Democrat is running to unseat incumbent Rep. Ben Cline in the district that extends up Interstate 81 from Roanoke to Front Royal. Betts faces a steep challenge in the 6th District as voters haven’t elected a Democrat since 1990, when the late Jim Olin won his fifth term in Congress. Despite the obstacles, Betts believes he has what it takes to unite both the urban and rural areas within district. “Bridging that gap is just getting out, doing the work, and listening to what people have to say," Betts said.

BUENA VISTA, Va. – The annual Buena Vista Labor Day parade was canceled because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Typically, it’s also a chance for candidates to take the time to talk with voters before the election. “I can promise that I will listen, that I will think and that I will dream big for our children,” said Annie LePere, a school board candidate for Buena Vista City Public Schools. “To all my friends in Buena Vista, in Lexington, in Rockbridge County, I hope you’re safe and having a great Labor Day,” said Sen. Mark Warner. Another featured candidate was Nicholas Betts who is running for Virginia’s 6th congressional district.
