The Biden administration is preparing more changes to the nation’s asylum system meant to speed up processing and potential removal of migrants who continue to arrive at the southern border.

Local law enforcement agencies gather to honor the 13 Virginian officers killed in the line of duty over the past year.

Those in attendance placed flowers near photographs of Virginia officers who died this year.

National Police week is held in May but the events for this year were pushed to October to ensure in-person attendance.

LYNCHBURG, Va. – It’s National Police Week and local departments are paying tribute to their fallen brothers and sisters in blue. Lynchburg police held a virtual memorial in front of the public safety building to remember officers who died while serving. With just the command staff on site, the police chief invited the public to be a part of the annual ceremony via Facebook Live. Since last year’s memorial, three officers in Virginia died.
