Friday is National Pizza Day and to celebrate, we want to shine a spotlight on the pizzerias across our region serving up delicious slices.

Thursday, Feb. 9 is National Pizza Day!

Tuesday is National Pizza Day, and there are so many places around here that do pizza really well. We wanted to get a slice as big as our head from the Notorious B.I.G. While there’s Benny Nicola’s in Radford and Benny Marzano’s in Blacksburg, we stopped by Benny Marconi’s in Roanoke. He keeps coming not just for the size of the pizza but the quality too. After humble beginnings in Blacksburg, they now have two dozen stores from as far north as Chicago to as far south as South Carolina.

October is National Pizza Month. Now, that's not to be confused with National Pizza Day (February 9), National Cheese Pizza Day (September 5), National Pepperoni Pizza Day (September 20), and National Sausage Pizza Day (October 11), but boy, does this nation love pizza. People love setting pizza recordsGuinness World Records has recorded an seemingly endless list of pizza records. In 2016, the General Manager of Pizza Hut Africa, Randall Blackford, and a group of employees, led by experienced guides, trekked to the summit of Kilimanjaro with a pepperoni pizza in tow. The feat was undertaken to mark the opening of the first Pizza Hut in Tanzania and the 100th country in which the company had launched a restaurant.
