In a video posted to Facebook, you can see her mom Nikki Horton bringing Alexius to the front yard to see the surprise. The surprise parade was a warm sendoff of good wishes before surgery. In the fall, Giles High School teamed up with cross town rival Narrows High School to honor the JV cheerleader at their football game, raising thousands of dollars for her medical expenses. Giles and Narrows players held fundraisers and collected donations in helmets before the game.

Read full article: 18-year-old arrested after 'threatening message' found in boy's bathroom in Narrows High SchoolGILES COUNTY - Staff at Narrows High School discovered a threatening message in a boys' bathroom on Wednesday after school, according to the Giles County Sheriff's Office. 18-year-old Michael Pennington was arrested on suspicion of communicating a written threat on school property. Though there didn't appear to be an immediate threat to school safety, the Sheriff's Office provided additional security at the school on Thursday. Alexius Dawson is a freshman and a JV cheerleader at Narrows High School. Last week, she found out she has osteosarcoma, a form of bone cancer. This Friday night, during Narrows High School's football game against Giles High School, both teams will set out helmets to collect donations.
