The multi-sport athlete will focus on his basketball skills at the next level.

The Green Wave senior stepped up to play multiple roles in 2023--accounting for nearly 3,000 all purpose yards.

Narrows High School and Narrows Elementary/Middle School will be dismissed early on Monday, Aug. 29.

ROANOKE, Va. The Yokohama Tire Plant in Salem is set to reopen today. Virginia Lottery customer service centers, including the one in Roanoke, will reopen today. GILES COUNTY, Va. – A New River Valley community came together to show a young girl she is loved, and to wish her well on an important day. In a video posted to Facebook, you can see her mom Nikki Horton bringing Alexius to the front yard to see the surprise. The surprise parade was a warm sendoff of good wishes before surgery. In the fall, Giles High School teamed up with cross town rival Narrows High School to honor the JV cheerleader at their football game, raising thousands of dollars for her medical expenses. Giles and Narrows players held fundraisers and collected donations in helmets before the game.

GILES COUNTY - Staff at Narrows High School discovered a threatening message in a boys' bathroom on Wednesday after school, according to the Giles County Sheriff's Office. 18-year-old Michael Pennington was arrested on suspicion of communicating a written threat on school property. Though there didn't appear to be an immediate threat to school safety, the Sheriff's Office provided additional security at the school on Thursday. NARROWS, Va. - A 14-year-old girl's devastating diagnosis is bringing two rival communities together. Alexius Dawson is a freshman and a JV cheerleader at Narrows High School. Last week, she found out she has osteosarcoma, a form of bone cancer. This Friday night, during Narrows High School's football game against Giles High School, both teams will set out helmets to collect donations.
