As Thanksgiving approaches, many will gather with family and friends to celebrate. But for some, the holiday season can be a difficult time. Local organizations, like the RAM House, are continuing to step up to provide more than just meals—they’re offering a place for people to connect, find support, and feel a sense of belonging.

The Virginia Department of Education is seeking community and business organizations to help with the summer meal program for Virginia students.

With school letting out for the summer, some families are looking for ways to stretch their grocery budget.

Virginia is expanding eligibility for free meals during the 2022-2023 school year through funding provided by the General Assembly in the state budget. Students with families at or below 185% of the federal poverty level are eligible for free meals. Previously, students from families with an income at or below 130% of the poverty level were eligible for free meals.

Meals on Wheels is delivering meals early to senior citizens just ahead of the storm.
