1st and 10 Player of the Week: LCA’s Gideon Davidson is Week 5 honoree

Two powerhouse football teams went head-to-head here in Lynchburg as both teams looked to start their season 1 and 0 but in the end, the LCA Bulldogs pulled off the win in what turned out to be a physical football game.

It’s the culmination of another high school football season. On “State Finals Saturday,” four of our local teams are headed out to leave it all on the field, looking to take home the gold.

Liberty Christian is moving on to the state semifinals after grabbing a win against Turner Ashby Friday night.

LCA was looking to stay perfect heading into their match with Brookville Friday night.

It was all Liberty Christian, 35-13.

Liberty Christian shut out Heritage, 42-0.

This one was all LCA- 61-10.

The defending Class 3 state champions defeated LCA 65-31.

Liberty Christian beat Turner Ashby 50-19 in the Region 3C semifinals. They will play Heritage next week for the Region 3C Championship.

The Bulldogs took home a win tonight, and the game’s final score was 35-14.

High school region tournament are nearing conclusions in SW Virginia.

In the Region 2C semifinals, the James River boys beat Floyd County 74-40 behind a 31 point third quarter. The win secured a spot in the Class 2 State tournament, the first appearance for the Knights since 2011.

In a Region 3D matchup, #1 Cave Spring beat #8 William Byrd 64-43. On the other side of the bracket, #2 Northside beat #7 Christiansburg 85-43.

LCA cruised to another victory as they moved two wins from a state crown.

On Friday night, the 3-seed Bees beat the 2-seed Pioneers, 50-21.

Five-seed Broadway proved to be no match for 1-seed Liberty Christian on Friday night.

The Bulldogs defeated 8-seed Wilson Memorial 56-7.

Liberty Christian knocked down the Magna Vista Warriors on Friday night with a final score of 60-14.

Lord Botetourt faces another challenger from Lynchburg, but this year it's not Heritage. It's LCA.

In Region 3C, it’s the 3-seed that’s the champion.

Heritage made their trip up to Rockbridge County count on Friday night.

In Region 3C, it’s all about the lower seeds this year.
