The countyโs Board of Supervisors held a public hearing Monday night and voted to approve a special use permit allowing farmland to be leased for the project. This comes after months of debate and lots of public comment on both sides. Now, the county can apply for the second-largest industrial-scale solar farm in Virginia and the third largest on the East Coast. The county expects to have the solar panels up and running within two years.

According to a news release from Pulaski County, the recommendation went into affect Monday. County administrator Jonathan Sweet said the county has a โsufficient amountโ of masks but needs more. โWe are looking at transitioning to essential county employees utilizing reusable face masks in order to keep themselves healthy and protect the public and their colleagues as well," Sweet said. Pulaski County School Superintendent Dr. Kevin Siers said that 16 of his students ended up being taken to LewisGale Hospital in Pulaski. Sweet said all first responders were extremely professional and took good care of everyone. Sweet, who was at the game himself, said that the heat caught up with some of the kids quickly. While there was free water offered at the game, Sweet said not everyone took advantage of that.

County administrator Jonathan Sweet said the new Volvo employees will earn a combined $40 million and the new jobs at Volvo will create 2,000 other jobs that will support the plant. It's exciting to see the access Pulaski County has into talent, Sweet said. He said locations in Pennsylvania's Lehigh Valley and in Greensboro, North Carolina, made strong cases to beat out Dublin for the Volvo expansion.
